Frequently Asked Financial / Insurance Questions:

What insurance Do You Accept?

Our office accepts most dental insurance plans, however, there are some dental plans that will not allow you to see a dentist who is not specifically on that plan. We are happy to get some information from you about your plan and contact them to determine if there are restrictions on which dentist you can see and to obtain your specific benefit information, so you will know before your appointment. Dr. Robert Seaman is a preferred provider with both Aetna and Delta Dental.

Do I have to have dental insurance to see a dentist or come to your office?

No, we see many patients without dental insurance. Actually, if a dental insurance plan is not provided free of charge from your employer, then it is up to you if you seek out (and pay for) an individual dental plan. Not everyone really benefits from dental insurance, if the cost of the plan plus your out-of-pocket portion combined is going to be more costly than just paying for the services as you need them – then a dental insurance plan is not benefitting you.

What can I do if I want to have an individual or family dental plan?

If you do not have the option to sign up on a plan through an employer, then you take a look at our In-Office dental plan, which has options for individuals, couples, or families – this plan only provides benefits at Seaman Family Dentistry. Many of the major dental insurance companies also have options for you to sign up for and purchase single or family dental plans and you can find these options on the insurance company webpages. We do not recommend the “discount plans” which are frequently offered by credit card companies and other organizations. This type of plan can only be used at certain dental offices, frequently does not provide much of a discount, and may not include many services – these are often very inexpensive to purchase, but make sure you check into what offices you can use the discount at and what services are covered and if there are any frequency restrictions on services.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, as mentioned earlier, you can apply for interest free financing through Cherry or CareCredit even before your appointment. We also offer payment plans through DocPayTM – which are automatically debited from your checking account or made using a credit card on file. There are not finance charges for DocPayTM plans but there is a small fee added to each payment to process the automatic payment. Once you have been given a treatment plan, we will go over the costs, any insurance, and options available to you; this is when we can discuss the specifics of your payment plan. All in-office payment plans will require a down payment and then at least monthly payments; but we can set up payments on a weekly or biweekly basis also.

Can I Make a Payment Online?

If you are an existing patient, you can set up access to an online patient portal and when you are logged into the portal, you can make online payments if you have a balance due. If you do not have your portal access set up yet, call us or email us to get instructions for setting up your access.

We are really struggling financially right now but my family also needs dental care, what can I do?

At Seaman Family Dentistry we have our own charitable assistance program called, Creating Healthy Young Smiles. This program was originally only available for children under the age of 15, but it has been expanded to include all members of the family.

If you have any other questions, email or call us, we are here to help you.
